Approaching girls with headphones

Recently i have read about openers and i was puzzled at how i should approach girls with headphones on. I usually take public transports and there are many times where they are usually plugged in. So the question is, how should i approach them and start a concersation?

Tap on the shoulder. When she turns you smile. If she doesn't remove the headphones, motion her to, then commence opening. Every time I've done this they removed them and listened.
