Asking a girl out over Facebook?

What are y'all's views on asking a girl out on Facebook, or any social media for that matter?

Based on today's culture, I'd think it'd be okay, but I want y'all's opinion.

Rule of thumb, the medium of arranging a date should match the seriousness of it

want to go frisbee golfing with a girl? feel free to text her or facebook message her. Dinner date proposals however should be reserved for real-life.
