I’m sure you guys can enlighten me on the psychology behind this man’s behavior. My friends either couldn’t or feigned ignorance.
So my friends and I are at the club. I look around and see one man in his 30s who’s my kind of my type. He’s there with a friend (or wingman?). I don’t do anything and have fun with my friends. Later, we’re outside and I turn around. He and his friend walk past, he makes eye contact, smiling. I return it and instinctively give a hard blink of acknowledgement. He walks past into the club and I think, “Alright, that was that then.”
About an hour later I’d all but forgotten about him, dancing in a circle with my friends, when I turn to my left and see him several paces away, giving me ‘the look’ (bedroom eyes). I immediately rush to look back ahead at the girl friend in front of me. Then, the guy proceeds to squeeze through the crowd right behind us. I turn, but he doesn’t look at me. I’m in the middle of two guy friends - Bill (not his real name) to my right, Joe to my left. Moments later the guy grabs Bill’s shoulder and tells him something. Bill is startled and uncomfortable. Now everyone’s started to notice the guy. The guy repeats this, then moments later talks to Joe and gets him to move further away. They actually talk for a bit, then I see the guy gesturing towards me. I feign ignorance. My girl friends are starting to talk about that ‘creepy old guy’. Joe returns and talks to Tom. I hear my name and ‘phone number’ and am instantly pissed off. That guy asked one of my guy friends for my number! Joe of course didn’t give it to him. I ask Joe what the guy wanted, but he doesn’t tell me. Tom though blurts out “Yet another lecturer!” (Because one other older guy flirted with me before). From now on, the guy keeps his distance, but is still around. We move and he’s right opposite of me, outside our ring. I want to go home and get my friends to leave, too.
We get our stuff from the cloakroom and - surprise, surprise - the guy and his friend follow us. I get dressed and he talks to Bill (who’s right next to me) again, not looking at me. Joe sees how uncomfortable Bill is and takes the guy by the shoulders to gently remove him from us. We go outside, wait a bit, Bill swears to sue this guy if he talks to him again. Again, I ask what the guy even wanted, but no one tells me. Of course, the guy and his friend are waiting for us at the outside gate. He asks Joe something about what we field we study (apparently he’d asked this before), we go into the opposite direction, and the guy keeps standing there watching us leave before his friend nudges him to get going.
I have my theories on what happened here, but you’re the expert. Go!
