Difference between girlfriends with OPEN RELATIONSHIP and friends with benefit?

Are these two the same? If not, what is the difference?

I'm thinking calling my FWBs as GFs with open relationships might give them a greater sense of security.

Difference: It comes down to a emotional factor and attachment

FWB - Usually when Two friends who have a sexual relationship without being emotionally involved. On a deeper level you're having sex with someone whom you either have no feelings for and are planning of not having feelings for that person in the future. The FWB relationship has little to no expectations of commitment attached to it, and it always involves sex. Sex isn't a possibility it's a guarantee.

Open Relationship - is a relationship in which the participants are free to have emotional, spiritual and/or physical relationships with other partners. You're technically in a relationship here, but can do stuff with other people. The big thing here is that the relationship is not monogamous.

Just_Dave, that's really illuminating! What I actually want then are open relationships for women I connect with emotionally. For those I do not, I only want a FWB relationship.

However, I would think that a friend with benefit would be emotionally involved too. Because isn't that what a friend is? Misnomer?

Regardless, this will help me define my relationships with my women. Thanks!

P.S. Are there any articles on how to maintain open relationships?
