Here’s a technique I wanted to share with other beginners especially. I get anxious not necessarily about approaching but about going out to talk to women. In my case it’s very persistent, it can last for the whole day sometimes. This method has helped so much it’s hard to believe. It’s a breathing technique developed by Wim Hof. Good for anxiety in general and maybe other things as well.
I’ll give you a brief description of the technique and then there’s a 10 minute video by Wim Hof himself explaining the same thing.
DON’T do this when you’re swimming in water or operating a vehicle/machinery, you may get light-headed and even pass out a little.
THE METHOD
First, lie down on your back, or sit in a very relaxed position.
1. Breath in so your lungs get completely full. Imagine expanding your belly and chest all the way up to your head
2. Let your breath out naturally. Don’t push it, just allow your lungs to empty.
3. Do this for 30-40 times
4. After doing it 30-40 times, don’t breathe. You may go surprisingly long without feeling the urge to take a breath at all. For me, usually 70-100 seconds.
5. When you eventually feel the urge to breathe, take a deep breath. Fill your lungs completely like in step one. But don’t let it out, instead hold your breath. Wim Hof says 10-15 seconds, I find the effects climax at about 25-30 seconds
6. Let your breath out like in step two
Repeat the cycle three or four times. Enjoy!

Some people may be put off by the woo woo -vibes. If so, just ignore that and try it out.
