In short the bigger the expectation the more you assign either a positive or negative outcome when that expectation isn't achieved.

A few examples

You see a girl who you really like, you've known each other a while, but your just friends. She suddenly comes upto you and gives you a big kiss. You see that as a strong positive outcome. You smile.

You see an elderly neighbour, you've know each other a while. She leans over the fence and gives you a big kiss. You see that as a negative. You frown and possibly call the police.

You see a girl you really like, she's a touchy feely type and she's probably going to hug you and say hi. She does exactly that. You were expecting it so it neither positive or negative.

You see a friends across the street. He waves you wave back. No outcome.

You see a hot girl across the street. She looks at you, smiles and waves. Strongly positive.


The expectations you have from people can widely effect how much or little you feel for them.

Well not exactly, you'll be happier or sadder, with expectation, than if you have no expectation. The emotions are more extreme. This only applies if what you expect from her either doesn't happen it is exceeded.

Yea, i just realize this.

I overpush a women's ego depletion recently because a women in a social circle didn't keen on meeting me (and i kind of have a preference of dating her). So there was a part of me that wanted revenge and wanted to show her that i and the female alpha are in alliance.

it ended her feeling depleted than usual. (Anger is good but use it wrongly/negatively and it end up somewhere else)
