Currently 26 years old and have little to no exp with women (never dated a woman). I was on holiday, out with my family this time. I was also designated driver for the night.
So throughout dinner, I think the waitress was flirting with me - however I didn't really flirt back because I was with my family, and that would have been embarrassing. So,
we had a good family dinner at the restraunt, and I took my family back to the hotel. I thought I'd go back for coffee at that place (I didn't get a coffee
before, and there are hardly any places which serve coffee at 9:00pm at night {small town}). It took me a while to enter the restraunt (nerves), however, as calmly as I could
I asked if they could give me a coffee (flat white). So I waited for a while, sat and drank my coffee, and waited for the waitress to come to me.

Firstly:
I just asked her what the biscotti was, hoping to get a short conversation on from there. She just told me it's a fruit and nut biscotti, and went away (I think i might have been a
bit off with timing of this question).

But that was ok, since i still had some coffee to drink, some time was left.

Fortunately, she (girl that I liked) was the one who came to pick my coffee up.
Me: Hey, its my last night in Port Macquarie, can you recommend anywhere to go for tonight?
Her: You can go to the beachhouse (local pub/nightclub)
Me: Ok, say what are you doing tonight?
Her: Oh, after this I'm working at the pub.
Me: (a little dissapointed inside) Oh, that really sucks. Well, thanks for the recommendations, see you later.

Then, just so it didn't seem as awkward, I went and spoke to one other male staff member, complimenting him on the high quality of the dishes that night and asking a few questions.

I went to the beachhouse as she recommended to see what it was like - standard nightclub. At that point I realised that she might be working here, wasn't sure if she was hinting to meet me there or not. It didn't matter either way to me, I wasn't willing to wait there - it's just one girl and I didn't even know when she would get there. I was happy with myself because I asked a person out, and it didn't end out on a bad note. I also made the decision not to wait just because a girl MIGHT be there - making a decision is not always my strong point so I was happy about that too.

Advice and alternative viewpoints would be much appreciated.
