This girl I failed to approach the first day of school showed up again tonight and I took the opportunity to approach. Midway around class the instructor gave us a break. I went outside and saw her (a cute latina with a nice ass) walking towards me, I knew her a little from last semester. We barely talked, and she gave me very small hints. Anyways, I approached her with a touch to the elbow while looking at her ( not 100% pre-opening). She had her head down and her headphones on. Lets call her mary.

Me: Hey, do you remember me?
Her: yes
Me: What was your name again? (I already knew, but I didn't want to have that good of a memory haha)
Her: Mary...
Me: so whaa........ Hey where are you going? come over here for a sec, are you in a hurry? :) (She was walking away from me, so I went for compliance)
Her: Yeah, my teacher only gave us a 5 minute break.
Me: Come on just 5 minutes (Woops I meant to say 2 minutes instead of 5)
Her: sorry (She kept walking away like a bitch)

I know this is a short FR, but I am thinking that I have to try again with this girl. The semester has just started haha and I am sure I will see her again.

Her walking away from me, was that a bad sign?

What could I have done better on my approach? I am thinking I should try one more time...

It has been 3 months since I last approached and I felt slite jitters but I approached anyway haha I feel proud that I still have the ability to approach.

Ocantu,

Im no guru on using compliance like JJ is, but here' s where I think you went wrong:

-I wouldn't have pretended to forget her name. Saying something like "Yeah, it was Mary, right?" is preferable. Or even better you could have opened with the compliance test and said "Hey Mary, come here for a sec."

-Don't put questions in your compliance test. And especially don't put it at the end of your request cause that's what a person will respond to. You asked if she was in a hurry to which she responded yes.

-If she says she only has a 5 mins, don't reply with "Come on, just 2 mins. Instead, say "for a sec" like in my example. She's already in a hurry and 2 mins seems like a long time when you only have five.

-And for the record:

-This is a bad mentality to have that only leads to bitterness on your part. It's very possible that she was busy and had somewhere to be or something to do with the short amount of time she had. I'd try to stay away from having negative thoughts like these. It won't do you any good.

In truth, I'm not sure if opening with a compliance test was really the way I'd recommend going with this girl because you mention you have some sort of history with her and it's possible it may seem out of character for you.

Thanks for the input Doctor, you are absolutely right.

I got an update, I saw her again at school and she was walking towards me again and she quickly took a U turn the moment she noticed me lol. That did sting a little bit, but I will recoup and move on to the next girl.
