What's up guys? I've been gaming here and there lately, though it's been inconsistent. Since I'm back at University, I'm starting to realize just how many opportunities there are available to starting a conversation using indirect/situational type of opening, since it seems to come off more natural. Trouble is I'm the type of person who is way too in his head during the day and am having trouble trying to "notice" things in the environment, let alone wording it in a way to make it come off naturally.

I read Chase's article and I liked the way he broke it down mechanically, but I guess for some reason I can't get this stuff to click. I feel like I may be approaching this too mechanically, but how do you get better at starting conversations with girls and people in general using situational/indirect?

Main situations being:

-Waiting in line at Starbucks
-Sitting in class
-Standing/Sitting in a hallway in building at University or sitting/laying down outside on grass
-Street Corner/Intersection
-Library on Campus
-Anywhere else outside or inside where people are standing/sitting still

Waiting in line:

"Hey what are you getting?"
"This line up is taking forever huh?"

Street corner:

"Omg why are motorcycles so loud ugh?
"Excuse me do you know why is this light taking so long?"

Sitting in class:

"Hey what kind of music do you like?"
"Hey how's your day going? Anything good happen to you today?"

Library:

"Watcha studying?"

Here's an article on library game:

Ahhhhh the options are pretty well endless and it is really easy to come up with and use indirect and situational openers. Just be a friendly guy and tell people what you are thinking in your head! Also, people LOOOOVE being complimented. if you like something about someone, let them know. people love when strangers compliment them

Hey Backstory,

Those are good examples of keeping it simple to start conversation. I guess what I meant to convey a little more specifically is how to notice the "quirks" in the environment and then be able to use those to start a conversation? In Chase's article on situational, it is said that cleverness and wittiness are what makes a situational opener successful. How would you be able to add some clever and wit to everyday scenarios like the ones you described above?
