How to deal with interruptions?

This has happened twice in the last week. I'll be having a really solid interaction with a girl I've met, deep diving quite a bit, and then suddenly someone they know comes by and starts an interaction. I'll get an introduction by the girl, politely say something like "how are you?", and then I'll start zoning out (to help the girl get the picture that I'm not settling for "that guy in the back" feel). On one interaction I lost the girl as we got on the bus, and the other turned out alright. How do you guys deal with this?

Sometimes a girl can be excited by her friend that it is not always possible the friend is at fault. Sometimes it can be her, breaking circle. They might have did something exciting prior to that and wanted to go somewhere.

Anyway, let's hope the rest have more in depth on this one.
