Me and my friend are on the outside of a shopping mall, and I see this girl coming out of the shopping mall, and ask my buddy to engage her.
Although I?۪ve approached strangers many times, he hasn?۪t yet. So naturally, he doesn?۪t, and she walks away. At this point, I don?۪t notice her noticing either me or my buddy. She has a shopping bag in her hand, and is quickly about to leave the mall area.
Since it was about time I went home, I decided to try to get something out of this girl to end the night, and me and my friend went the way where she was going.
She is walking by the roadside a few feet ahead of us, while we are on the footpath, going in the same direction. At one point, we leave her behind (since Chase recommends walking past a girl before opening). Then I looked behind and saw her coming toward footpath, and acted as if I was noticing her the first time and could not take eyes off her.
I looked behind, and locked eyes with her, she was about 10 feet away walking through footpath now, and after a second or so, her eyes go own. Not too much light on the street, but her eye movements are visible. To test if I saw it correctly, I lock eyes again looking behind while still walking, and the same thing happens - after a second or so, her eyes quickly go down.
I heard a 21 Convention guy (I don?۪t remember who it was) saying that as soon as he noticed that a girls?۪ eyes went down immediately after eye contact, he didn?۪t wait a second to approach. So I stopped immediately in a moderately lit area of street, and waited a few seconds for her to come close. She was probably expecting something at this point. As she came real close:
Me: ???Excuse me?۪ (in an attempt to stop her)
(She stops)
Me: You look really nice!
(Now we?۪re walking slowly with her walking by my side)
Her: Thanks. (Liked the compliment, but not super happy or anything.)
Me: What?۪s your name?
Her: (Mutters something I immediately forget)
Me: I?۪d like to know you a bit, let?۪s talk for two minutes.
She hesitates 2 or 3 times, and I keep persisting, emphasizing the ???2 minutes?۪ part.
At last??_??_
Her: Okay, let?۪s go somewhere else
(Surprised me a bit, because I should be the one saying that.)
Me: Okay.
We walk and get close to another shopping mall, and enter the ground of the mall.
Me: Is this a good place?
(FUCKED UP HERE, ASKING HER OPINION)
Her: Let?۪s sit there. (Pointing to a bench, note that she does not reply to my question)
(AT THIS POINT, I?۪M THINKING THIS GIRL IS EXPEREINCED.)
As we sit??_??_??_??_
Her: Is it kind of a show or something, like taking people to date?
Me: No. I?۪m a guy who has a life view that when you see somebody you like, you should go talk to them. We don?۪t know what?۪s going to happen tomorrow, right?
Her: ??_??_??_??_??_??_??_
Me: So what?۪s your name?
(MAJOR FUCK UP HERE, FORGOT HER NAME, AND ASKED AGAIN.)
Her: Shailene.
Me: Kevin (I extend my hand and she takes it, but immediately releases.)
(SHE IS SITTING ON MY RIGHT, LOOKING IN FRONT, NOT REALLY GIVING EYE CONTACT, AND I?۪M SITTING WITH MY RIGHT HAND ON THE BENCH, WITH OPEN BODY LANGUAGE, ALMOST 70 DEGREES TOWARD HER. VERY BAD.)
Her: Where do you live??_.are you from here?
Me: Yes??_.xxx!
Her: Oh xxx??_ (as if not impressed)
Me: What about you?
Her: Somewhere in CITY NAME
(THIS THROWS ME OFF, SHE DOESN?۪T EVEN SAY WHERE SHE LIVES)
Me: That?۪s too mysterious.
Her: ??_??_??_
Her: It?۪s kind of strange.
Me: I know, I?۪m an outgoing guy, and it?۪s strange for most people I know, even I?۪m nervous, believe it or not.
Her: Are you following me or something? (obviously trying to throw me off)
Me: Well I saw you in the mall, and thought this girl is beautiful, and then when I was walking, I noticed you again??_does that make sense?
(FUCK UP HERE, SHOULD NOT HAVE ASKED HER OPINION)
Her: Alright then??_. (says something like she should go)
Me: Shailene, let?۪s met up again.
Her: Umm??_.I don?۪t know you.
Me: Look, we?۪ll meet somewhere in public, and then we?۪ll just get to know each other.
Her: Yes I know??_..if we met somewhere else, I?۪d have exchanged numbers??_.but it is strange.
She stands up, about to leave.
Me: You?۪re breaking my heart.
Her: ??_??_??_??_??_??_
I persist, and walk a few feet with her, about 10 seconds, still nothing.
At last, I give up.
Me: Alright, nice to meet you!
We shake hands and part ways.
WHAT I LEARNED:
1. I was not dominating, asking her opinion 3 different times unnecessarily.
2. There was no eye contact, so positioning wasn?۪t right.
3. Mostly she was making curve-ball statements, and I should have ignored those by asking something else as if I didn?۪t even hear her say those things, but instead I addressed, and failed.
4. Didn?۪t try to deep dive, asked only surface level questions.
I am pretty ashamed that I fell for almost EVERY CURVE BALL SHE THREW AT ME. NO SURPRISE THAT WE DIDN?۪T EXCHANGE NUMBERS.
SO I HAVE 2 QUESTIONS.....................
1. I know there was hope if I handled this correctly, because she seemed interested initially. I think most of the mistakes I?۪ve got already, anything else folks?
2. Also, this girl has this strange habit of not answering a lot of things, just being silent, and changing topic. I think that's her experience with talking with guys. However, what about it really?
