My goal in 5 years is to be a published comic artist
Okay, so to give a little backround
I'm a senior in high school
only been on a date with one or two girls
Been reading girlschase since I was 14
But had put no serious effort in
until now
I've recently been listening to the art of charm
and some other inspirational stories about young people starting businesses/ having the career they have chosen for themselves
I'm 17, about to turn 18 this year,
I have a few college choices
Right now, I'm Dually enrolled in The College for Creative studies
I have also been accepted into The College for Creative Studies for the fall 2015 semester
In addition I have the option of attending Ferris State University or Henry Ford Community college
I want to be a comic artist
I know that CCS has many connections in the art world
and all of my art teachers have been graduates of CCS
I do want to attend CCS, and it has been the college I wanted to go to since 8th grade
But the tuition is high
And I know my school gets a scholarship for students who want to attend CCS
However, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get this scholarship
and I'm not sure if it's more dependent on my art or my Gpa
I need to get that straightened out First thing in the morning
In most of the inspirational videos I've been watching they've been talking about some of the pitfalls and expenses of art college
And I've always wanted to travel
so I've been thinking that maybe I could major in english at Ferris , teach English in japan , and work on my comic there
to account for art skill improvement I would watch tutorials, and take online courses
this seems like the best route if I don't go to art college
I also really like the area Ferris is in, for practicing approaches and whatnot
Art school could really help me build a skillset for working in the world of comics
but everyone I talk to tells me that " people who publish anime and manga are only looking for Japanese authors"
I should know that this is BS because art companies should base on skill
but how can I argue against someone with more experience than me?
Maybe because these people themselves have never tried to make a living off this themselves
and are teachers having safe, conventional lives?
