hi folks
i couldnt help but notice many customer service ladies are extremely polite in canada - it comes out through their body language. they are on autopilot, using the same slightly pitched vocal tones and speech with everyone, in order to be presentable to the majority of people. this is their customer service persona, and is just an act till they go home.
what i found was that when i used informal speech around customer service girls, they quickly dropped the act and started being themselves with me.
Here's what i do to make my speech more informal so i can connect quicker with the real side of these ladies:
- talk in a normal voice, like im talking to best friends or family
- use slang and other informal word choices (hey how are ya)
- draw out vocal sounds (heeeeeey how are ya)
