Is it ok to cold-approach on street at dusk?

It gets dark quite early where I live, at around 5 pm. I finish work around that time and I'd still have some time to go home and do some approaches on the way home but I'm not very experienced approaching in the dark/dusk/after sunset and also girls are usually rushing home. Most shops also close around 5 pm where I live. So, all I'm left with is streets and I'm really tempted to approach in places where it's comparatively lit and crowded so that I won't freak the girl out or come across as creepy. Any tips or suggestions?

Yeah it's no problem. Just make sure there are street lights or lights from windows. You will find in your city that there are spots that are very well lit up and spots that are badly lit up. What I would do is I would time it so I approach her right when there's a lit up spot.

For an example you don't want to do it between two street lights but time it so you approach her right when she is entering the light. That way, if you come around from the front, both your faces will be lit up.

Solid advice from Skjöldr. I do most of my approaches after dusk. But I live in near a well lit shopping district - with tons of stores, nightclubs and restuarants. A good rule of thumb is to empathize with her feeling of safety. That would mean calibrating your approach to not to startle her, creep her out or make her afraid in any way. Your vibe, vocal tone, body language etc, plays a big part. I ride off on approach invitations mostly - so that's another thing which will help you in street approaches at night
