Approached a girl sitting in a library reading book. After giving out my opener, she said "Hi! But...erm I am quite young tho". That time, I thought she worried about our age difference, so I just said "It's okay for me". However, come to think of it, my reply was kinda creepy. If I were to do it again, I might say "So you are saying I look old? Damn, you just hurt my heart" in a teasing manner.

I am not sure why she said she quite young. Is this social frame, where she worried about other people judging us? Or is it shit test me?

Best to joke about it, problem with that answer is that it is a simple contrary statement that proves nothing. A joke shows her it doesn't matter rather than trying to explain that it doesn't matter.

When she comes out with the age right off the bat, it's also a sign that you didn't approach smoothly enough to reduce the tension, because when people feel tension they start coming up with random reasons as to why (which explains why explaining yourself doesn't work, since the tension is still there).

the right date makes getting her back home a piece of cake

Isn't my tease is joking about her question? How would you reply to her?
