Let's say she is more experienced than you are in hiking and cooking. If you join her in those activities, how do you maintain leadership? It's easy for her to take over the leadership role.

TBM,

I usually just kick back and let her do most of the work. Women seem to greatly enjoy cooking for the men that satisfy them, so I let them reward me with meals. It's like saying, "thanks for being sexy and giving me great sex." ;)

...and I do try to lend a helping hand here and there if I'm not busy, but there's no point in trying to take a leadership role when she's trying to do you a favor. Sit back, and let her reward you.

This is just my opinion, anyway!

What about activities like hiking where she takes the lead? It's not exactly a favor, and she's doing a lot of instructing and I'm following her lead on the trail. Or if I'm busy with my personal goals and she's usually the one trying to get me to go out?

I don't hike myself, so I don't have any personal experience here. Most of the activities I do with my woman are activities where I can lead, but if she just wants to teach you how to do it, I don't really see too much harm in that if you're willing to learn.

Or if I'm busy with my personal goals and she's usually the one trying to get me to go out?

This is a different story. If you're busy with something that requires your immediate attention, then let her know that you need to complete what you are working on, but you would be willing to try the activity some other time when you're free. It's one thing for her to show you how to perform an activity that you've agreed to do with her because she wants to teach you, but it's another thing to let her have control over your schedule and decide when you two should do that activity, especially if you're busy with other things. Let her know when you're available to have her teach you the activity, and when you finally do go out with her, feel free to let her do the teaching.
