Alright, well pardon me for this two style question in one, but it has been bothering me for a while...

Is nerdy/pop culture clothing, a women's bane, or does it depend on the person wearing it?
I.E:A blue shirt with a faded superman symbol, or Captain America's/Spidermans/Venoms costume as a hoodie, Green lantern shirts, etc. Should I just completely throw them out?

As for the size:
Tight, or comfortable?
Should they be tight to show off your arms/chest/shoulder or should they be a bit more comfortable?

Any tips on clothing styles for people around eighteen, where being casual is a social necessity?

The answer is.. it depends....

It depends on what is your purpose.
Where you are going.
What are you doing.

If you came to me in those clothes asking for a job at my firm, I will say "You're not serious..."

So the question is, do you want to appear serious or not?
If you went to a bar in those clothes trying to open a girl, they will think you're not serious.
You need to have a reason to back up yourself to explain why you are wearing such outfits.
ie; If you happen to be at a cosplay event, wearing costumes would be fine. Or if you was promoting for the Marvel Company, at a specific event.

Otherwise, most of the time, the girls will just think you're not serious.
You need to be looking like a grown man rather than a kid. It shows that you're mature.

Smart Jeans are fine. You should get used to wearing shirts too.
Aim to look smart and neat.

There are threads about fashion which will help you:

Light is correct, but at the same time, it also depends on what you wear with them. For instance, I have a lime green Mountain Dew graphic tee that I'll wear with a black casual dress shirt over it and add a wristband and a necklace. Even though you can still make out the logo, people notice the green/black contrast more than the logo, and the accessories add a bit of an edge. At the very least, make sure they are well fitted with some cool accessories. If you do that, the fact that they are somewhat nerdy won't matter that much. In fact, if you are even a bit built, and you wear them right, it makes you look more self-aware and ironic than nerdy.

I'd say it's good for indy/hipster bars/concerts or just nerdy venues/events in general. I just have a couple of nerdy shirts. One has Marvin on it, and I've had women approach me exclaiming, "Oh! I love that character!" I also love the character (why else would I be wearing it?), so it has the possibility of attracting women more on your wavelength.

However, a bad side effect is that it can make you the entertainer or "fun guy," when you want to be the "sexy guy." If you go to an average bar/club, I'd definitely avoid it. Don't throw them out though; keep them for the right occasions. The gym is another great place (since no one wears nice clothes) and makes you pop.

I think the same thing about fashion and dating is that, you can say something ridiculous and get away with it. Doesn't matter what you wear, maybe a Pepsi t-shirt with that big a$$ logo in the middle, whatever. Just make sure to compliment it with shoes and jeans that match it. Plus your posture, your walk, and accessories like watches, a simple watch.

You can get away with it. Important thing to note, it compliments each other. Don't be too baggy if any. IF it's baggy make it the thing cool instead

I read an article somewhere before saying that generally you don't want to wear clothing with large logos (or any) after say high school because those are mainly for younger people unless you are attending an event where it will fit right in. Aim to stand out but just in a different way
