I've just tried to pick up a girl in a bus. She sat near to me and after a few moments I poked with my elbow into her elbow and asked "so, how's your day" with a light but confident smile on my face. But she just got uncomfortable: "What do you mean how's my day". Then I said "I just wanted to say hello, my name is Name" and raised my hand towards her. But she didn't shake my hand and just said her name. I asked a few questions about her, what she was doing in a city etc., but she wasn't willing to answer. She asked if I often talk to girls in a bus, and I said that no, but "you seemed to me cute and I decided to say hello. But still she wasn't willing to talk to me, but she wasn't rude at all, just quite uncomfortable and shocked that someone tried to pick her in a bus. She said that it was the first time that a guy did this to her in her entire life and she's like 25-27 years old. I asked her if she'd like to meet me for some coffee, but she just refused and said that she's not usually meeting strangers to drink coffee.
So my question is - how to make a girl comfortable when picking up in a public place (my body language was quite confident)? Maybe I couldn't do anything in this situation?
