Real risks of impregnating

The article about STDs Chase wrote was very informative and I think necessary for both protecting ourselves and women, AND allowing us to know what to expect and look out for, which thus lets us have more fun and confidence.

A similar bit of information on avoiding impregnating a girl unwittingly would be just as vital.



I, for one, realized recently that I have been very likely misinformed about the risks of sex regarding making babies. I contribute this to a "sex ed guest speaker" in high school who claimed to have gotten pregnant from semen on a bed sheet. If this was fact, however unlikely to occur, still weighs on my mind and effects my sexuality. The worry of heavy consequences doesn't exactly mix well with hot sex.

Well I had a scare with my Finance and we did all the odds and its really low. Your chances of impregnating even if you sex on the day she ovulates is 25%. The other days in the fertile period you're looking at 11%. Sperm lives up to a week. The egg lives about 24 hours.

What I would do. Bang a few days after ovulation but before her period.
Bang during period if you don't mind blood
and bang at least 7 days before the start of her next ovulation

So that limits your risk...or just avoid all this and get her on BC or don't cum in her.

Why not use safe contreceptives? Even if nothing but abstinence is 100% safe, you can come pretty close. If you're *really* afraid of pregnancies, you could use more than one method, like the pill + condom.

The teaching you got at high school sounds to me propaganda to scear you away from sex. I'm a physician myself and have heard about one case a bit similar, and that was a girl who got pregnant when her boyfriend ejaculaed on her body close to her vagina. According to my colleguage who told me this, her hymen was still intact,so there is no doubt she got pregnant when still technically being a virgin. However, this is extremely rear, my colleguage is now in his 70s and saw this in the 60s and never since! About getting pregnant from the sheets: the thing is, the sperm need a liquid phase to sweem in, so if the semen doesn't get in contact with her body fluids, it won't be able to swim into her uterus and tubes either.

My advice if she's not on the pill or anything similar: Only have intercource in the "safe periods" Daviddreamer describes, but always use a condom, and always have the morning after- pill at hand if the condoms break.

A word of warning: if you chose to use coitus interruptus, be aware that the clear fluid that comes from your penis before you ejaculate, can contain some sperm as well, which might lead to pregnancies.

I find this highly unlikely. They guy must have had Herculean sperm. It is much more likely she just did not want to admit she had unprotected sex. I would not get caught up with embellished stories like this. If you use various forms of birth control and a little common sense, chances of pregnancy are quite small.
