So Chase covered how to contact a girl out of the blue in his guide. How do you normally respond to girls who express interest first, either through a wink/wants-to-meet/etc. notification, or by sending you a very short message like "Hi"? Obviously the form message comes across as a bit gamey in this situation since you already have their attention, so how would you suggest responding?

Something humorous implying that the girl is pursuing you usually does the trick.

Like

  • You know, in my day, if a lady wanted to meet a man, she had to walk all the way to the dance hall and hope that he made an appearance there.

How's this whole Internet dating thing treating you, little lady?

Calibrate it to her style, of course. Some girls will see that and go, "Bah!" Others will see it and go, "OMG, this guy's awesome!"

Here's another

  • You rang?

... if you really want to leave the ball in her court. You'll get a (possibly much) lower response rate, but a stronger response from the ones who respond (assuming some do... not always assured).

Or, if you want to jump into playful banter right off the bat:

  • So, now that you've winked at me, does the mean we're going steady? ;)
