Secret Santa Banter and Social Calibration

Secret Santa comes around once a year and it's a pretty fun experience receiving random gifts from mates within our boarding college environment. This year was a lil' different though after receiving some pretty rectum-destroying banter. I received some feedback from a mate after telling him to back down that people were trying to, 'knock me down a peg' and he proceeded to ask if, when I walk around, I consider myself a suave individual. I responded with a resounding yes and that I just feel good throughout the day unlike many of the individuals here who tend to moan. He said that some people view it as arrogance and hence why this banter was particularly rough to 'put me in my place'.

I've never asked for feedback before and I found this intrinsically fascinating, some people see me as, 'cocky and arrogant' and it's been a recent thing since working on fundamentals and mindsets. I wonder if this is something I should try to change but the more I think about it, the more I feel that I am doing the right thing. I would consider myself carefree but also motivated to do the things I want to achieve.

Any tips, ideas or experiences are welcome. Is this lack of social calibration perhaps or am I succeeding mentally where they are not?

Robster,

From what you said, it sounds like you just need some fine tuning as part of your learning curve. It's a pretty normal part of learning confidence; you'll tend to overdo it at first, then gradually, with time and practice "cocky" becomes "confident."

I recommend Hector's article on "The Genuine Man." This is part 1, so make sure you read the other parts:

Thank you so much Doctor, I've read through the articles and it is certainly eye opening. I'll take a slice of humble pie when I'm next back to college and see how it goes - balance in everything ^^
