Correct me if I'm wrong, Zac, but I think he's trying to point out the fact that, of all these social laws and restrictions and beliefs and whatnot, the "right" answer (and the way to cope with these) is somewhere in the middle of it all -- instead of at one of the extremes on each end. =)

Yeap. Exactly what Franco said. Give you few examples, Apply this everywhere and you notice this pattern too. You can also know where your limits are.
Examples:
Crazy Person (Insanity) = Lacking of understanding of reality, which is today. (He can believe his wife is still alive even though in reality, he have seen her death)
Young Person with ambition = Lacking of understanding on Red flags or Environment. IT can also be both.
In dating:
Guy who is cocky = Lacking understanding of the environment or person. Being cocky without objective is one common example.
Guy who tries to apply PUA tricks without understanding "rules" = Looks awkward to girls and do not understand why.
Guys with huge egos = Lacking understanding of environment
Guys who are confident after successful lays = Oversee red flags of dating. (Example are guys who start spending money on girls and think that they are already good. You must understand why you want to spent rather than it being an oversight)
Conclusion: There is another thing for the beliefs section, which is system. A Guy who is a natural = He believe he is the shit but he lacks understanding of objective/system.
