So I'm fairly smooth at opening girls in casual low-key situations, but Main street stops haven't been working out too well for me.
Living in South America my go to is "Hey, do you speak English?", and even if I have to repeat it most girls will say yes and then I go forward with my thing and it's fun for both of us. If they don't speak English I get to practice my Spanish, which I'm fairly proficient at anyhow.
Girls that are sitting down or standing around waiting for something (bus/light/train) are easy, but when it comes to crowded 2-way moving traffic, I have a hard time getting into conversation.
I refuse to do the whole run past her and turn around to stop her kind of thing, the London Yad stop I think it's called. That's ridiculous and incongruent with my character.
What I've worked out instead is to up my pace a bit, get side to side, and touch her arm with the back of my 3 fingers to nudge her towards me. This is something I learned from Nick Krauser, and it's more my style.
Its gone well before, but today I almost gave this poor girl a panic attack. She was clutching her heart as I tried to ease into conversation, and even though I could have probably got something going if I plowed through, she was simply too frightened to let what I'm telling her sink in.
I've got no real commitments at all these next 2 weeks so I'm eager to up the volume beyond the "easy targets", but I'm not trying to be a menace. How do you go about a basic street stop without scaring a girl, yet being assertive enough that she actually stops?
I've got some ideas I'm milling around in my head but I'd like to hear some insights from others that are already doing this
Thanks,
