I wasn't sure if this'll be okay to put to the field report, because the only communication there were, was nonverbal. So I decided to put it here, because for me it was quite an interesting experience, so I wanted to share it and perhaps even read some comments on it.
*if you want to get to the actual part where things started to happen, skip to point-section*
I had a really miserable wake up this morning. I had slept almost late, so I had to miss my shower, and I went to the Uni with this oily, messy hair. Also, I had this really commercial t-shirt on, because I was doing a job which needed me to wear it. "Well I'm going to be in luck with these sets", I thought to myself sarcastically.
I was sleepy, felt myself dirty and was stressed because of all the deadlines I was under at. I didn't feel really good.
The first girl which I had an eye contact at the Uni rolled her eyes away from me. "Thought so.", I remarked to myself.
*The beginning*
It was at the lunch break when I noticed a thing. As I sat to an empty table, I noticed a girl - or should I say a woman in a lab coat, glancing at me from a table near me. I think her age was probably from 25 to 30. She was talking with her friend, with a couple of dudes sitting next to her. As I was having really a bad day, I thought, "Yeah.. Go on and look what a dirty f*** I am.. And see that food at the plate? I took too much of it didn't I, because I missed my breakfast? What if that girl's actually looking and thinking how a big amount I took of it, not being able to eat all. That's the reason why she's probably looking at me."
As I started eating, I noticed she continued to glance me at times. I didn't first answer straight to these glances, but I noticed from the corner of my eye that she was doing these. As I continued my eating, I started to turn my eyes towards her. Sometimes, she would turn her eyes away in an instant, other times she would turn them, but soon after turn them back at me, then turn them away again. Sometimes she would gaze at me for a second or two, then turn her eyes to the girl whom she was discussing with.
I slowly started to see things in a different way, in the new principle which I had earlier adopted (first, based on my own thoughts, then confirmed by this site). Yes, I saw what she was actually doing. I also noticed she had put her left leg on top of her right leg, making her left foot point straight towards me.
This super ego of mine didn't have power anymore, and I indeed saw the faultiness of my thoughts - how stupid my mocking thoughts actually sounded.
"Yeah. Right. Well if this would be true, her interest would dissolve once I go and grab my coffee, indicating that I'm NOT going to be able to finish this food, thus her seeing what a "big failure" I am. So let's do it and see the results".
The dudes at her table left, having finished their food.
So I went and grabbed my coffee, and returned to the table. To my own table, I have to say, because that's where my plate was. At this time, had I been at a more positive vibe and more vigilant, I could've just gone and enjoy my coffee at her table, starting a conversation and eventually asking for her number.
She continued to look at me. Now I certainly knew she was interested in me, and I started to nonverbally flirt with her. I started to slowly turn my eyes towards her, enabling her to be more prepared for the eye contact. I squared my body a little bit towards her, but not too much.
Her gazes would become more controlled, without the edgy and fast "looking-not looking-looking"-vibe. She would too, slowly turn her eyes from me to her conversational partner. At times, after gazing at me, she would slowly turn her gaze to the background behind me. I almost felt bad for the other girl, trying to have a conversation with her, but she just staring at other things. At one point she actually turned her head to see what she was looking at. I can't tell if she knew or recognized at that moment, but she probably did.
Drinking my coffee, I noticed a new thing. A thing which, if my deductions were right, threw my thinking to a whole new level.
First, I noticed that she had positioned both her legs to a 90 degree position, firmly to the ground. It wasn't an relaxed looking position, and had a forced feeling to it. If I would describe it, her legs would be positioned like a person driving a motorcycle, who was afraid of driving a motorcycle. So it would'nt be a relaxed position, but pushing the bottom of her feet straight towards the ground. The other description would be a person sitting, who needed to go to a toilet.
But this girl wasn't in a hurry to anywhere. She had been there for a good 20 minutes, her food already finished. So why such a forced position?
Then, I noticed another thing, and the deduction of it was the thing which made me laugh happily inside.
Her coat skirt was vibrating. You know, the bottom part of her coat - like a paper would wiggle at the hands of a person, while doing an anxious speech. I did a control test, checking one other girl's coat skirt. She was also having a conversation with a few of her friends. The coat skirt was not vibrating.
Then the thought struck me.
A knowing smile rose to my face and I had to look elsewhere. This probably blew my cover, as the girl now thought I weren't taking things seriously.
I was deeply fascinated by all this, but then again I felt a bit bad that this wasn't happening at a bar, where the rules would be different. Now, I would soon have to start leaving as I was beginning to be late for continuing the work.
But me being at this dirty and bad vibed state, and still there's a girl who gets turned on, in such a deep scale, just by looking at me.
How attractive must I be when I'm clean, in a good clothing and full of confidence?
Anyway, I started to decrease the amount of gazes towards her, and began instead to look towards the clock.
Soon after, the two girls started to finish their break. The girl stretched her arms widely and yawned, like she had just woken from a whole night's sleep.
They rose up, and walked by the table where I was sitting, towards the dish disposal far behind me.
She didn't anymore glance. The interaction was over.
