Well, finally had a girl bite on me today; been working on getting attraction and value to suitable levels while increasing my fundamentals.
Tonight had class from 6-9pm, and then immediately after went to team volleyball practice. I met two girls, Amber and Jessica. Both seemed excited to meet me. I can only guess my teammates held me in high regard as a volleyball player, and told them good things about me. A little bit after the introductions, Amber started flirting hard. I haven't flirted with a girl in ages, so I felt pretty awkward.

Started out with high energy and a good aura around me. Introduced myself to the girls, making eye contact and a crooked smile at each of them. Started walking along talking to my team captain, and ran square into the corner of a metal bench. Real smooth.. I didn't wince or do anything dramatic.
Me: Well. That was my hurt knee.
Amber: Steel wall John over here.
Me: Nah, it's fine.
Right after that I noticed the interest. I thought she was cute from the outset; this just confirmed that she was going to be potential.
As we passed the ball around to warm up, she did a whole round of girly flirty things:
- "John hits it hard!"
- "I'm not going to pass it to John."
- She frequently hit the ball at me.
- "I'm not standing next to John anymore!"
- Tried to box me out when I asked if she was going to try and block me. Physical contact is a definite indicator of attraction.
All while making eye contact with me and smiling. Most of the time, I reacted rather subtly. I would play back a little or just look at her and smile after she referenced my name in something. I didn't want to over-flirt, as we were going to be in there for at least 2 hours, and with other people around too much direct flirting wouldn't be good. Need to work on eye contact flirting for sure.
After the warm up, we finally started playing. The banter kind of quieted down between us, but we were still warm to each other. Kind of hard to have a conversation when we are trying to play volleyball. Didn't do so hot as a team, and finally got a chance to sit down with her and Jessica as we were subbed out. Idiotically, I think I tried pumping up my value without realizing it, just out of habit. In order to get to know her, I decided to ask her year.
Me: So are you guys Sophomores, or Freshmen or what?
Amber: Oh no I'm a Senior.
Jessica: Yup, I'm a Senior too. Going to be a super-senior.
Me: Well. Guess I'm just young. *look at Jessica* So you're graduating next year?
Jessica: Yeah,
Me: Hey, that means we are graduating together! *highfive*
Jessica: Cool!
Me: Do y'all go to any of the Volleyball games?
Amber: Oh, no, I refuse to support a team that doesn't support its local highschools.
Blaergh. Things were already sort of off as our team wasn't doing so hot. Now I got her on a negative conversation thread. She went on to explain why, and I was looking for ways to direct the conversation out of that topic. I took a laissez faire approach and let her talk it out with Jessica, while somewhat relating to her, and eventually she ended it kind of awkwardly. There was a brief silence, then she picked the conversation back up and talked about something else with us.
We ended up doing poorly, and eventually everything ended on a somewhat sour note. We were disorganized in leaving, so I kind of just escaped while I could. Probably should have told her something cheery like, "Looking forward to the rest of the season" but alas I was tired and hungry and just wanted out. Wondering how things will turn out, as I'm going to play with her again on Thursday. Going to work less on value and more on being implicitly sexual.
