When a girl asks you this, how do you answer it? personally or generally

Generally talk about activities I like doing.

When a woman asks you this she is trying to figure out if you are going to DO stuff with her. So many times I've mentioned my hobbies and had women say "Oh, I'd love to ride horses. Would you take me riding? Or "I had fun shooting archery at summer camp when I was a kid" fishing for an invite.

I usually shy away from mentioning solo activities, unless it is an interest we share, like a book or author. I guess if video game playing is your thing you could mention that if you think she is into it.

One of my personal favorites is to just make random hilarious crap up; practicing bird watching, backflips or other random things. She'll get a laugh out of it before you answer a bit more seriously

Ditto. I'll literally look her dead in the eye and say in a completely neutral tone of voice "I like to watch paint dry. It's really fun."

She'll just give me this look like "wtf are you talking about dude"

and I"ll just go on "Yeah, blue & green colored paints are pretty fun to watch. But my all time favorite is pink."

At this point, she'll either roll with it and say "Oh yeah, I bet you do" or "Oh wow, really?? So do I!"

If she does this, you got a fun little banter going.

Other times she'll just laugh. In which case I'll just continue on "wbu? What do you like to do for fun?"
And now you've got her talking about herself again.

I actually like to use this strategy with a variety of questions. Particularly those which I see as tests (such as "how old are you?").

I like to use "making women smile" e.g.
What do you do for work -> I'm a researcher.
What do you research -> making women smile.
What faculty are you in -> the faculty of making women smile.
What are your hobbies -> making women smile.
As you can see it's quite adaptable. She nearly always smiles when I deliver this line. Then I can say "ha! my current research is very successful!" and other such crap. Or even start a joke about recruiting them for a study (I will have to study them VERY CLOSELY ... said with touch and strong EC this means SEX SEX SEX)... Another option
What do you do in your spare time -> I'm a secret agent.
Anyway as Bboy says, anything that looks like a test needs to be dismissed. I started doing above when I asked out a cutie from the 7/11 who turned out to be from my uni, asked her out and she hesitated and tested me by asking what faculty I'm in, I complied with a boring response (taken by surprise) and failed the test. Obviously don't want that happening again.
