With the Ranking System it's like this
1-Space Monkey(Pretty much beginners and people who are new to the boards)
2-Tool Bearing Hominid(Slightly more experienced)
3-Cro-Magnon Man(Intermediate to Advanced level playasssss)
4-Tribal Elber(The cream of the Crop)
With the ranks from what I recall it's based on your posting history and how experienced or inexperienced and helpful you personally seem, the moderators of the boards(Franco and Chase) personally update all the rankings and move you up if you've proven yourself to be much higher than your rank suggest.
I just want to add that just because someone isn't a tribal elder doesn't mean they don't have good advice that isn't worth listening to and testing out.
