How would you improve Girls Chase?

Not to knock on GC, but I feel that the competitors are putting out really great (superior?) content. I watch Todd V's videos for dating advice and he is solid at explaining key concepts to understanding and getting girls in his videos. Meanwhile, you could spend the same amount of time (or more) in a GC video about one specific area in the time that Todd covers a broad problem for most guys. In my opinion, it's much easier to watch a video and take notes than read an article. It's also much to remember the notes you wrote than a whole article. RSD videos are gold for improving your social skills and changing your bad mindsets, which this site touches on but doesn't dive deep into. Don't get me wrong, I love girls chase and 1 Date is awesome; I just had to share my honest feedback.

Me when Chase was asking about the redesign of the site earlier:
Steve Jobs said some time something like design is not just how it looks, but how it works...

Now onto the how it looks part. You say the current design is 3 years old. Well, for me it feels like it's 10 year old. I'm a practical person, I care more about how it works, but I can't not notice it: It's subconscious. Then probably others feel the same way about it as well.

Speaking of the recent forum redesign. To Chase:
That said it's your forum and your redesign plans. (And we are your community.) But If it were up to me I'd do a hell of a lot of things completely differently at the core level. You can always fine tune minuscule things later though.
So what I wanted to tell you is that as I see you go with your redesign plan is you act as the main designer and hire programmers even if you are not a designer yourself (not that it's a problem, everyone has their main expertise) instead of outsourcing the whole project to a software team which usually consist of at least one designer + one programmer knowing each other and working in tandem. I see this a lot.

Someone (a pro in their field) wanting to control every aspect of their website vs. someone else outsourcing the whole thing. Speaking of my examples even if the first someone is the #1 expert in his field his website still looks crap while the second someone's website looks pretty neat (and usable). An interested added sexism speaking of my examples, is that the first someone is a guy and the second someone is a female. I often find that unless the guy is an IT guy himself, female experts (who are experts in other fields, not software) end up having much nicer websites because the are willing to let go more aspects of the site building process to their chosen expert team, who they chose by female instinct I suppose. Which is certainly an interesting dynamic.

Now we have a new forum. I'm curious what's your strategy to get on board an order of magnitude more users?

Some marketing 101. I've just learned that Hector's King of College book is basically a social circle book - as it turns out from the small print. But the title says King of College so I guess quite a few people who'd otherwise be interested in that topic who aren't in college seeing the title just say "next" as they don't bother to explore the small print that maybe it's not only about college despite the title.

We ran a Gold-level design competition on 99designs for a new forum design.

We picked the best design.

Had it coded up.

We premiered it here, and guys said they didn't like the pastel colors.

I did a few quick mockups in Photoshop where I changed two colors, to create two different versions, and asked Haseeb to create these two versions.

My input on and alterations to the design other than that have been minimal.

I know you do not like the forum design, Space.

A lot of guys do. Or have said they do. A lot of "the forum looks GREAT!"s.

Maybe those guys are just being nice, and they really think it looks bad, and just want to be nice, like when your girlfriend cooks you food but she never really learned how to cook but you're not enough of an asshole to just crap all over her cooking.

I dunno, can't say for sure. Maybe that's the case. You never know.

I know you also do not like the forum architecture.

I think you wanted vBulletin, IIRC (something I have heard a bunch of people calling terrible forum software recently... I don't know, never used it, but all the reviews basically say as of 2017-2019, vBulletin's been left far in the dust by xenForo).

Could it be Space's tastes and Chase's tastes really are just totally completely alien from one another?

I dunno. Probably.

Not sure what to tell you though, man.

We're not going to do vBulletin.

And I don't know what sort of forums you think have a hot design.

But my guess is whatever they are, it's probably something that really appeals to you but that I wouldn't put on a forum I ran in a million years.

I'm open to any constructive criticism. However, this weird fixation on trying to psychoanalyze me and guess at my work process, while critiquing everything and floating your own unpopular suggestions, is a bit of a head scratcher.

This forum is by far one of the best forums I've seen lately. It's really good. However, I find the girlschase.com site very confusing. I find it hard to really understand which products you guys sell, and what they consist of. The menus of that site are in my mind very confusing. It's really hard to navigate around the site and find articles regarding what you are interested in. I always use google instead of the navigation on the site with a girlschase "topic of interest" search. The content on the site is far superior to any other content on the web. I just think the site is designed wrong, and it's hard to get access to the content of interest. Also, I think the funnel for one date sucks, I still don't understand 100% what the program consists of. The best funnel for a pickup product I've seen is http://systembytodd.com/landingpage/

And again, GREAT work on the forum. This is gonna be THE place, and with some work on the girlschase.com site, I'm without a doubt sure that it can become the number #1 dating resource in the world.

Agreed I like this a lot actually. Thanks for sharing that being in the industry. GirlsChase is going to soon have a pretty cool landing page for the infield coaching coming out soon, keep an eye out for it. You'll like it a lot more than the One Date one if you prefer Todd's style of funnel.

At one point I know GC was producing a system in the works to make this specifically easier yeah. Hopefully we can get that going still.

I'm without a doubt sure that it can become the number #1 dating resource in the world.

Agreed. With RSD getting out of the pickup game their will soon be a big chasm to fill (albeit a shrinking market as a whole). I think GirlsChase stands a good chance to rise to #1 as a whole for advice and coaching. Time will tell. Stay tuned ;0

Yes, I agree, the GC main site's very confusing and hard to navigate.

There's really not a good precedent for a site that is like we're trying to build.

Something like a digital library of game, in essence.

You have blogs and news sites, which is what we modeled the site after originally. But these usually focus on most recent content, and not directing you to older curated content pieces.

Then you have sites like Wikipedia, but I don't think that's particularly well laid out for easy navigation either.

We're working to remedy that. We have the index and tracks projects, but those are stalled for now.

The main project we have there is content organization -- we need someone who can go through, organize all the content properly, and get it sorted to where it needs to go, so we can then work on presenting it.

The index (much, much better way to search) is actually done, but we need the content all tagged properly to roll it out.

I'm probably going to grab someone for this fairly soon. I set up a how-to page in the meantime, with different articles broken into different focuses, and will add to that over the next few weeks, to get a few different guides-to-articles in place, effectively.

But longer term, we need tracks & index deployed.

MD (our lead developer) is mostly focused on getting the new theme for the Girls Chase main website coded up with the latest technology (SASS, etc.) so it looks good and loads super fast.

Once we're done with that project though, and have an AMP version for the mobile site, his next focus is going to be index + tracks.
