A few days ago at work I almost hit my co-worker with a stray juice cup. I was passing stuff to another co-worker to increase our productivity flow, but as he got farther away passing turned to throwing and throwing meant passing items through our whole work line. Needless to say, this chick starts asking Catcher a question and stands in the line of fire. If not for Catcher's amazing reaction skills, she would have had not only a headache, but also an Iced Tea shower.
As is common when accidents are avoided, we all had a big laugh (other co-workers say this too, about 10 people total). One girl who I vibe with, hugs me tightly over the next couple hours twice or thrice with an elevated emotional state. Meanwhile, my near-victim is happier and even greets me warmer the next day.
We've flirted before and she seems stuck between raising her anti-slut defense to booty-shakin' with her tongue hanging out. We have never met outside of work and for mainly logistical reasons I haven't asked her on a date or similar, I'm 19, the two chicks are 20, and Catcher is 27.
Can someone explain the mechanics happening here? I thought it would have been a net negative interaction towards my value (it was an accidental near-hit, this could have easily happened to any theoretical offspring, although it sounds ludicrous in writing), but this event seems to have been a net positive.
Is it not the event itself but how everyone bonded afterwards? Even then, why would it add to my value, instead of Catcher's (you know, the person I then called "her savior" and the one who prevented the whole accident)?
I'm terribly confused by this sort of event and though the results were pleasantly surprising -- I'm not fond of unpredictable events.
