This thread makes things even more confusing for me. For the past year I have been really into classic men's style (think Joe from dappered, brands like banana republic and j crew) and now I realize that it might mess with my pickup goals. I really love this up-dressed style and I don't want to change it but I am afraid it is going to make me too unattainable. Things like wearing red/flashy blazers don't really go well with my taste and I would feel uncomfortable in that, so I believe for a start I will try to make my classic style more flashy, definetely get some jewellery and then calibrate it from there according to success.

Hey Sakbishop

The styles just happened to be aligned with what I’ve been trying to do lately; but it’s also because I just like the look that I wanted to adopt it.

If everyone or majority were doing it/adopting the look and I didn’t like the look than I wouldn’t go for it; and if few went for it but I liked it than I would go for it.

I think the only qualifications fashion should really need to have is:

1. Can I feel comfortable in it and enjoy wearing it and enjoy how it looks on me
2. Does it get good reactions from the type of women I am trying to get

Because that’s the other thing I think it would be safe to say, that certain looks will necessarily polarize some women draw some women in and be not as attractive to others. Some women will be into certain looks or not into certain looks more than others.

Those are a few things to consider…

HOWEVER, after all that I don’t think that fashion matters that much. It helps just as being good looking helps or having a good build and low body fat percentage helps, but more important than fashion is fundamentals and process. Those are what get you the girls.

A couple days ago I was wearing really worn out clothes like a raggedy old shirt some random jeans and my hair was a mess (not the sexy mess but the ugly mess) and I looked terrible like in a way that I wouldn’t ever go out to meet women with.

I got chipotle with my friend and later he left and I cold approached a chick at chipotle and talked with her and then went on an instant date with her driving off with her to a city nearer to us (Sadly no action came out of it but maybe on date 2; the date went well). The girl was into biker dudes, and was a big biker fan and was telling me about that and I looked nothing like her ideal type at all but my fundamentals were good and that’s what got her looking at me.

Fashion helps but doesn’t matter absolutely, over everything else. Some times you can bum it and still do fine.

I wouldn’t stress too much over it bro, I started switching mainly because I wanted to try new things and was getting bored with my own look, and cause I wanted a bit of a better edge to attract older women. But at best yeah it’s a just a little bit more of an edge of advantage you get.

Try out different fashion see how you like it and the reactions you get; and adjust accordingly. You’ll be fine I reckon, and fundamentals and process matter much more anyway :)
