Im starting to realize maybe going nofap all the way isn't that great for me, I was really horny the day before new years and I didnt have a girl, so I was lonely (flatline). I just let it go and felt alot better, I had an epiphany and realized maybe I could just go moderation, once every two weeks to keep me calm.

I also become alot more needy when on huge streaks. I actually began to believe that I need a huge streak for any girl to like me lol not the case, I have had ioi a few days after. so the my point is, nofap may not be for everyone.

ocantu,

Im starting to realize maybe going nofap all the way isn't that great for me, I was really horny the day before new years and I didnt have a girl, so I was lonely (flatline). I just let it go and felt alot better, I had an epiphany and realized maybe I could just go moderation, once every two weeks to keep me calm.

I've mentioned this in other threads about masturbating, but I noticed I haven't mentioned it in this one, so I'll mention this here: after about 7 or 8 days of not masturbating and no sex, I would start to notice my sexual prowess fall off a bit, and then all I cared about was release and rest.

I think there's a period after about a week or so where your body realizes that, in all its efforts to make you horny and ejaculate into some female's vagina, it's just not going to happen this time around, and you lose the drive you had initially. I actually had a system that I used for awhile that seemed to work pretty well for me when I was still dealing with a lot of approach anxiety... I would go the whole week without masturbating until the weekend. Then I would go out on the weekend (usually Friday and Saturday night, and occasionally Sunday during the day), and I would try my best to get laid with all of the sexual energy built up during the week. If I *DID* get laid, I would feel great and the sexual release would help me relax. If I did not get laid, I would just rub one out on Sunday night to release the tension, then start the cycle over again for the next week.

This cycle helped me focus at work during the week while still being "sexually charged" by the weekend. If I didn't end up having sex by the end of the weekend, I would feel much better just releasing that tension so that I could focus on other things I needed to do during the week instead. So yes, masturbating once every one or two weeks (if you're not having sex) is recommended by me. Going completely cold turkey on masturbation is probably very difficult to do, and it might not be the most effective method.

Thanks for the reply Franco, thats sounds like a great plan. People on nofap Reddit make fapping the devil, but moderation is okay.

In my humblest far-from-expert opinion, there seems to be a difference in duration and amount of benefits for people who just casually do it and people who have a history of heavy use (everyday for 5-10 years)

Obviously if it hasn't been much of a problem and you only twist your cork once in awhile, you'll probably experience something similar to what Franco described...

As for me, I was a meat beating machine (always had a strong sex drive) for many years, and now that I am consciously attempting to cut it out of my life, I don't see benefits until about 5-10 days in, but continue to see benefits for as long as I go (longest streak: 2 1/2 months)

I've found I much prefer to share my meat with the hungry and those in need.

Haven't fapped since 2014. Hopefully I get a wet dream soon because I can't stop thinking about sex....

I've experimented with this before and yea it does work, but I think how you feel what, depends on the person, and their habit before.

Another more realistic (and natural) experiment which I am currently undergoing is just forgoing any pornography. I think it has a very similar effect, but I'm only about a week in so I can't say for sure. I'm pretty sure it has the same effect, because your not exposing your brain to what appears to be abundant pussy, everywhere, all the time, without the need for any work.

I'm a believer that porn can easily have negative effects, so since I've stopped, I've sort of been pushing myself to wack it. Why? Because as one commenter said, porn and masturbating go hand in hand, but it shouldn't because your brain perceives masturbation as sex. And then you associate the two together, and then you get some sort of problem 10 years later, like E.D. Anyways, I'm pushing myself to wack it without porn, just in spite of porn. Just to make a connection. A natural connection.

Some porn (a lot) is actually really fucked up too, and I can't stand it. Like sometimes, it looks good, then I see the guy hit the girl, and I just want to loose my shit. I go soft, and I realize why some people are so anti porn. The even more fucked up thing is that it's just the tip of the iceburg. Some stuff is soooo fucked up, and by watching, your supporting it.

Even if it's not visible fucked up, behind the scenes, it could very well be JUST as fucked up. Anyways...

If you can forgo masturbating, go for it (Francos last comment with his system sounds ingenious), but if your young, just enjoy your life and try to keep things natural.

After prolonged period of no masturbation, you may have a wet dream, and personally with me, when I did, it fucking hurt. So be careful with no masturbation lol.

I'll have to try this. I feel like I'm making progress with social circle, but I still can't approach random women to save my life.

Since I masturbate practically every day, maybe stopping will make me a bit more motivated. ;P

This is a pretty interesting subject, and it's something I personally came across a while ago when I decided to quit watching porn after researching thoroughly how bad it is for you in more ways than can be imagined (especially for meeting and getting acquainted with REAL women!). There are quite a number of studies and articles online that assert that abstaining from masturbation builds and spikes your testosterone levels, which essentially makes you a much more sexual, horny, assertive and aggressive guy!

This is the one I found the most interesting back then, anyway:
http://themodernsavage.com/2009/02/04/e ... ing-women/

I believe there are also one or two articles about this on GC?

As for my own experience: Back then I decided to quit masturbating the same time I quit watching porn, which for me went hand in hand (LOL) so I forced myself to stop both! About thirty days later I ended up having first date sex and starting a five month long FWB with a girl I had only met two days prior at a conference. Prior to that point I had not had any kind of sexual activity in at least half a year. I guess when you force yourself to only receive satisfaction from the fairer sex and not your hands, your mindsets can change pretty dramatically. So I guess it works =)

Hope this helps!

that part makes sense, in which you abstain from masturbating, it makes you more horny, aggressive and assertive, builds up your testosterone levels, but at the same time, you gotta know how to act upon it, because once your assertive and you approach a girl, start talking to her, escalating with her, you gotta know how to do it the right way

As of late, I've also been looking into this topic quite a bit. I've noticed that most the internet based sources and guys recalling their experiences suggest that quitting porn and masturbation would supposedly cause some HUGE changes in their lives. Like, a lot of these porn addicts will recall stories of going from social loser to charming, suave, sexual man by doing NOTHING OTHER THAN QUITTING PORN. Now, for actual addicts (guys who literally sit there and watch porn ALL DAY), I'm sure there are quite a few positive changes that happen to their lives. But it leaves me wondering: What about the rest of us?

I'm pretty sure I'm not addicted. I do masturbate pretty often, but every time I try quitting, I'm capable of it. There is no "I can't stop no matter how hard I try" type scenario for me. For me, not fapping/not watching porn is annoying at worst. Additionally, based on the "symptoms" of porn addiction, it seems that I'm not really an addict. So for us "normal" porn/masturbation users, is there really any reason to quit? Like, if I'm not addicted, does stopping do anything for me other than leave me extremely horny all day?

well moderation is okay, but porn is highly addictive. i am still struggling with this problem myself. Too much Porn/masturbation causes you to not be attracted to real women aka erectile dysfunction, it causes brain fog, some say depression too...

If you can, quit porn for good and do the 7 day cycle like franco suggested above without porn. Alot of people go strict and do Nofap, it apparently gives people great powers just by withholding masturbation. I know muhamed ali would abstain from any release napaleon hill mentions it in "think and grow rich" people with the most success in life and business were some of the horniest people ever lol.
