Hi all,

I cold messaged this girl I used to be in the same class with but never got to talk.

The first time, she took a week to get back to me. Then subsequently, she would take 2~3 days. All the time her replies would be quite long and she seems genuinely interested. In the most recent reply, she even asked some questions about me. Only once did she reply around 3~4 hours later but it was brief but not uninterested either.

I have been making the mistake of keeping the messaging too lengthy each time and asking too many questions (I'm a real greenhorn).

I have been thinking about asking her out. I have read the article here on how to ask a girl out and it recommended that the question is popped when the conversation is going well, yet how can I get the conversation going if she takes days to reply?

Why does she take so long to reply yet seem so interested? How do I get to the next stage of the relationship i.e. asking her out?

Would appreciate if someone helps me shed some light on this incident :)

Like all text conversations, yours will have highs and lows. So when the conversation hits a high (you should be the judge of that), you text her something along the lines of "We should meet sometime, talk face to face. Let's go grab a cup of coffee at ...".

If you've read the article you also know that asking her out should be something very casual and not a big deal, so act accordingly.
