What's a good opener for a beginner to pull off in cold approach?

Walk up and say "Hello," and then just go forward. If you stand there awkwardly as she waits for you to say something, no big deal. At least when she walks away you'll realize you're still alive.
Also, a fun warm-up is to walk past grls and just say hello to them as they past. I do this all the time. Just walk past her, look her in the eye, nod your head and say "hello." Do this 5 or 10 times and you'll be like "OH SHIT IM NOT DEAD!"
Then you can upgrade to drive-by "Hey, you're cute!" statements. Do that a few time and you'll still be alive.

Ok, I just tried this. Decent looking girl was with her daughter and mother from far away and I caught her doing a 180 to look at me.
We met at sidewalk we made eye contact I forced a smile and she got in front of her daughter to let me walk by I said hi weakly but she looked at the ground. I dont think she understood english.
Another girl was walking towards me albeit fat we made eye contact and she also looked to the ground.
Passed by the first girl again and both she and her mother were looking at the ground as they pass by me again... Anyways I walked around a bit more and didn't find any other girl in the area and now im writing this up. Oh, except a cute girl playing with her son and an ugly girl next to the cutie. They werent by the sidewalk but I should have walked up regardless and said hi. Got cramped though.
I'm going to try again tomorrow, ok?

I walked to the nearby supermarket. This cutie was driving a small cart and was in my way. So I looked down at the cart jokingly, she laughs and says sorry in a way like "this guy is ballsy", I say thank you and my voice surpised mr cus it was very smooth and deep. I looked at her but she looked down. She moves the cart for me and I put my hand on her arm as I walked by.
Ran into a group of 2 girls and a guy and the girl I made eye contact with looked down also... Why is this happening? It makes it kinda hard to approach.
I want to say that today, my body temperature felt really warm as opposed to yesterday I felt cold and clammy.
I'm gonna try and get my mom to take me to the mall, lots of cute girls there
