Sup fellas,
A quick trick to building more connection with a woman is utilizing this one word "because."
I've seen a couple guys on the site, as well as new PUA try to relate to women by saying "I like that," or "I understand" without offering any sort of relation at for women it's superficial. Sure, you're saying you understand her but not actually "building" any sort of connection.
Let's take a look:
Her: "Yup, when I was younger I had a lot of free time and my parents didn't trust me outside by myself so I played pool in the basement, it became a part of my life ever since."
Me: "I completely understand."
Okay, you completely understand, but how is she supposed to know that? Take you at your word... pfff.... that'll work some times, but it's much better to actually show her that you understand. When you include "because" it forces you to connect with her. The "because" portion of the sentence doesn't even make sense unless you relate it back to what she said.
Her: "Yup, when I was younger I had a lot of free time and my parents didn't trust me outside by myself so I played pool in the basement, it became a part of my life ever since."
Me: "I completely understand because pool became my outlet after my parents divorced, and I, like you, played a lot and now it's just a part of who I am."
Anyway, for newer guys, or for you guys who only say "I like that," include the word "because" to force yourself to connect with her.
SIDE NOTE: As you get more advanced and have control of your fundamentals, you won't have to do this to make connections, it's just a great little trick for beginners.
