Plain t-shirt vs plain polo shirt: Which one is sexier?

All of us on this forum know that a plain shirt is the best choice for seduction. But if you had to choose between a plain polo shirt and a plain t-shirt, which one would you choose for it's sex appeal? In your opinion, what makes one more sexy than the other?

I guess it depends on what type of venue you're going to and what type of persona you have.

I don't think polo wearers statistically get more pussy than t-shirt wearers.

I don't know. but for me, its not what the plain tees have, but what they lack, that gives them an edge over plain polos in terms of sexiness: the button down collar:

(Boyfriend material VS bad boy)

Button-down collars add formality to shirts. Which is associated with being conventional...being someone who typically goes on multiple dates with girls before getting any action...not something you wanna be signaling to girls in ONS settings where they're seeking lovers (Of course when your advanced, it really doesn't matter (some may even dress formally on purpose (I use OCBDs w/ blazers (like in my profile pic) instead of polos tho), just to grab the attention of girls seeking high status/provider dudes, and then switch to lover mode once in conversation to get them to spread their legs quickly).

I agree with Rob here. I think it's dependent on the venue or demographics.

The polo has a more business-casual feel to it. Good for work or the golf course.

The t-shirt has a more casual, if neutral, look to it. It's great for off-work but I see it dependent on whatever else you wear (accessories, pants, shoes, etc.). Ex. you could wear it with a blazer for more formality. The polo is more limited in options, at least to me.

plain t-shirt is the answer...

polo shirt is business, golf, boating = screaming preppy provider...

@Dexter Read the first sentence. It's not exactly rocket science what I meant.

In other words I was not aware that plain t shirts are better than polos for pickup. Also that this is (apparently) common pua knowledge.

This really depends on your social circle. What is or isn't well dressed is social signalling, that says you are or are not in the know. What works in a South Florida country club is likely all wrong for a biker bar in California. Look around, check what the cool people in your tribe's watering hole wear.

I will say, as someone who works out, the Ralph Lauren polos fit great. But yeah, they don't scream traditional "sexy" at me. But maybe they do to the heiress at the polo match.

you better be athletic, muscular and fit to pull off the polo. It is the uniform of the retail worker anymore. Best buy, Target, Staples, Safeway, Uniforms are all polos.

The independant businessman wears button down or spread collar cotton button up shirts. (My daily wear)
When I wear a Vneck Tshirt, one female college professor I friendzoned called them my "muscle shirts"
When I wear a polo and shorts I totally fit into the "Dad vibe" grilling, golfing and mowing lawns. Oh that gets the biological clocks ticking....

A polo can very well create an understated, elitist outfit if done right.
but you need to step away from one-polo focus and look at the total appearance
Outfits like these are more clean cut, aka sharp and often with an inherit structure that helps shape your body and amp up posture.
It enables eg sexual tension to be more easily applied due to the fact that your facial features are more outstanding and your outfit doesnt take the attention. Or this is at least how i style them.
It provides for subtle layers of class and hints of power as a subtext to your sexual tension and maybe other select vibes.
It further taps into sexual stereotypes like mr big from sex and thel city, fassbender in, cloney and sean connery bond types subtones.

Needless to say Im not talking about wearing a service level staff type polo and boring jeans from a US market context.

This is eye candy for many girls especially some segments as outlined by @Mr.Rob @Tank and @Mike Silvertree

The polo plus boat shoes and chino shorts look, which is an obvious display of fratty conservative elitism, does create an impact in a clear display of a certain kind of status appealing to many hot women.

Personally, I don't like wearing clothes that fundamentally lie about who I am. But polos do also have the aesthetic quality of bringing visual attention to the traps and chest that a t-shirt otherwise wouldn't, so sometimes I like to wear "anti-polos", for lack of a better term, which have the underlying structure of the polo but have distinct characteristics distinguishing them from the polo-wearing milieu, such as a hood or graf-type prints on the collar.

Seems like polos can work but maybe they're easier to 'get it wrong'. Phsyique might also be a problem if you're out of shape on both [larger and slimmer] ends. But first lets talk about the ones that do wear them.
It enables eg sexual tension to be more easily applied due to the fact that your facial features are more outstanding and your outfit doesnt take the attention. Or this is at least how i style them.
Do you wear it exactly like in the photo? eg only bottom button done up, and the collar "up" as opposed to down?
The chinos and shoes in your photo, they go with it like that[colours etc] or you only meant the shirt was good in that photo?

Darius in his article here actually has suggested a polo and chinos

Maybe looks like a similar combination to what Glow posted. Here's the photo showing the shirt and pants etc Darius suggested:

Here's Grand Pooba

Grand Pooba
At the same time, I do recall brands like Abercrombie and Hollister being quite popular a few years ago.
That maybe backs up what Mike Silvertree said about it may also be what the current trend is and what the current trends mean, eg 'fit in conformity' vs 'edgy'.

NarrowJ, another tribal elder, wears polos in this LR

Okay, so above are examples of triable elders wearing them and they're getting laid. Okay then. So polos can work, unless that's because that was posted both NarrowJ and Grand Pooba back in 2013/2014, and does not apply today?

Some have mentioned polo can look good on muscles. If you lack the latter, maybe you could add a layer, like Darius suggested in the article
For evenings, your outfit could be enhanced with a tight (slim fit, shorter cut) blazer, or even a leather jacket if you feel like going for the super stylish bad boy look.

Something interesting I have found, check this out from Barry

Now.... IF, its a big IF... I'm understanding correctly, polo is bad in this context for Barry? that was 2014
But then.... oh why oh why....... in 2015, Barry is going out, wearing a polo, the very type of shirt that he claimed didn't do well!

So, why wear a polo if you think they're not a good look? He already had the evidence it didn't suit him.... unless I misread his post. if I did then I was wrong of course, which would actually mean maybe thats another plus, not a minus, for polo. Barry hasn't been online in over a year,s o I'm curious your opinions reading this, did Barry mean polos worked for him or not in his 2014 post?

So, now for some direct questions for you polo wearers.
1. short sleeve polos or long sleeve polos?
2. untucked always?
3. those that wear them, collar up or down?
4. Buttons, any done up?
5. What do you wear them with... chinos? jeans? what colour?
6. What shoes do you wear them with
6. Necklace.... can a necklace work with a polo?
7. Every tried doing what Darius suggested and wearing them with a blazer, leather jacket, denim jacket, coat etc?

I do not own many[or maybe none I'd have to check] polo shirts. I did however find this shirt, and the colours just seem really pleasing to the eye.

But, the second photo, "as is" you probably would not call it edgy? Maybe you could make a case that there is a difference between attractive colours and edginess. That's not to say colours can't make a difference, but they might make a difference to looks, and maybe edge too, but if you have good colours without edge, then that's not as good as colours with edginess, I think that's what I'm trying to say.

That red white polo long sleeve, assuming my judgement was correct that the outfit above is not edgye, is that too hard basket? Or would adding a necklace or wristband or jacket/blazer, maybe those would make it more edgy? Perhaps darker jeans different shoes might make it more edgy?

I picked up girls in a polo shirt in the summer, but it matches my vibe. I also wear glasses, a nice watch, summer hat that all work well with the polo. Its not every girls taste, but it makes me stand out and polarizes me enough to work in my favor.

Johnny Depp is one of my style icons and he didn't disappoint, my style is closest to his. Always leave both buttons of your polo undone to show off your chest and accessorize. You want to be different enough from other Polo wearing men so that girls do not mentally put you in a group with them.

I'm not a huge fan of horizontal stripes (prefer vertical) but this style would just as easily work with solid black, gray, burgundy etc
Tom Holland below is close but looks too nerdy. If he kept his Polo unbuttoned and accessorized in a similar fashion to Johnny , he would look much better.

Hi,

Do you mean, eg no tripes, just plain solid colour like black/gray/burgundy polo?
What colour shorts or jeans/pants did you wear with it?
